To Discover and To Share.

What does discover mean to you? To me, it's about finding things I've missed before. Stop and look at the world around you for a second. Maybe you'll see something new that you may have missed in your haste to get to tomorrow.

dis-cov-er - verb \dis-ˈkə-vər\
to obtain sight or knowledge of for the first time

So many people are happy to live in their own world, content never to venture out of their comfort zone or travel to new, exciting places. But discovery doesn't have to be about crossing the seven seas and going to exotic, foreign lands. It can start right from your doorstep. With the infinite possibilities in our amazing world there are always new things to see, to do, to experience right around the corner at every turn if only you open your mind and heart to it.

I will admit I wasn't one to look in my own backyard for new discoveries. My idea of discovery was to jump on a plane and experience a whole new culture, speak new languages, meet different people. But lately I've started to discover and appreciate the myriad of amazing things in my own city, Perth. I've discovered restaurants that I've never been to before, locations that I previously bypassed on my way to more familiar territory and of course amazingly talented and inspiring people!

How blindly I've been going through life. Eyes wide open and yet seeing nothing. But now as I discover something fantastic with an open heart and mind, a feeling overcomes me and I yearn to share it with the world. What better way, I thought, than to share my discoveries with the world through a blog. And so began Marinda Leigh.

  1. Getting on a plane is so tempting. But after living away for 3 years, I'm excited to go back home and discover new things with the awareness I gained while away. I'm glad you are discovering new things in Perth. It's a good way not to go crazy with the 9-5 life.

    1. Hi Princess,

      Thanks for reading my blog!

I'm glad you're excited about going home! I remember when I was so reluctant to come back to Perth but now that I'm back, I think I've truly settled in. But not too settled, mind you, that I lose all curiosity and my adventurous side!

Thanks for taking the time to comment!

      Marinda Leigh.
